The Tale of Two Gardens; Creation to Salvation
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Tell The World (November, 1997)
Authors: Barbara Ann Calhoun and Susan Murray
Average review score:

Makes the message simple
This book is a wonderful combination of words and pictures that connect the old and new testaments. It explains God's plan in a way that children can comprehend. It takes something that is so big that it sometimes seems too much to relate to a child and makes it clear and easy. The illustrations are very colorful and will grab little ones attention. I highly recommend it to all parents that want to make God's story a real one.

Teaching Beginning Reading and Writing With the Picture Word Inductive Model
Published in Paperback by Association for Supervision & Curriculum Development (01 March, 1999)
Author: Emily F. Calhoun
Average review score:

PWIM User
The Picture Word Inductive Model (PWIM), developed by Emily Calhoun, is being used extensively in an elementary where I work as curriculum coordinator. The teachers and students report that it's fun, engaging, and well worth the time and energy devoted to it. The expert users find that this model reveals very helpful knowledge about student learning and are able to make targeted instructional decisions as a result. Using students' own language, PWIM builds sight word acquisition, hones categorization skills, develops knowledge and use of phonics, and increases word, sentence, and paragraph comprehension, among others things. I highly recommend this useful book.

Third Generation Wireless Communications, Volume 1: Post Shannon Signal Architectures
Published in Hardcover by Artech House (01 January, 2003)
Author: George Calhoun
Average review score:

All you ever wanted to know about wireless
Great book.

Is not intimidating with formulas and equations but gives you overview of the technology.

Gives good grasp of where it's heading

And no Shanon is still valid rather he is pointing out ways in which Shanon limits can be side stepped by moving around either in frequency or space or time

Also gives indictaion why rake recivers are so powerful.

This book will show you the overall technology, trend and implications. But if you want to learn how to design a 6 fingered rake reciever this is not it.

Toward a Sure Faith: J. Gresham Machen and the Dilemma of Biblical Criticism, 1881-1915
Published in Paperback by Christian Focus Publications (January, 2001)
Authors: Terry A. Chrisope and David B. Calhoun
Average review score:

Stuggle Births Assurance
Rather than the struggle of the modernist controversy, Chrisope excellently documents Machen's struggle with New Testement scholarship. The reader is given familiarity with the general mindset (historical consciousness) of Machen's time, then his years of training in America and Germany. These years are brought to life with portions of works and also letters between he and his parents. The climax of this biography is Machen's firm orthodox convictions based on the free investigation of both sides of the biblical criticism dilemma.

Instead of depicting Machen as a fundementalist (as Longfield did in 'Presbyterian Controversy' from a modernist perspective), Chrisope shows forth Machen as the great New Testement scholar he was. His clear and forward stances against liberal theology in the 20's and 30's are brought forth as woven to his earlier, intense scholarship. The maintainence of orthodox Christianity was the motivation of his calling for the ex-communication of ministers who maintained anti-Christian doctrines. This is not to be mistaken with the tradition-bound, reactionary, fundementalism of that time.

This book is highly recommended to any student or even critic of the Bible to see one man's struggle for the sake of truth and clear conscience.

Triple Exposure
This was my first Jackie Calhoun book that I have read. I have absolutely fallen in love with her writing and she is now amoungst my favorite authors! This book was so real in the way that it is written and could be any one of our lives. It is so easy to relate to the characters and feel all of their emotions. She keeps you so engrossed that it makes it hard to put the book down. I am currently on my second Jackie Calhoun book and am enjoying it as much as the first. If you have never read any of Jackie Calhoun's work this would be a wonderful book to begin with. I recommend this book very highly and her as an author! Have fun reading!
